We all have people in our lives – friends, family members, those who have fallen away from the practice of the faith. How are we praying for them? For their salvation, conversion, and return to the church?
One theme which keeps coming up in my life and times of prayer – is light and truth. I have often offered prayers for people’s “salvation”, for the conversion of their heart”, etc. Today in morning prayer was this wonderful line:
“O send forth your light and your truth; let these be my guide. Let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell”
This is the ultimate goal of these prayers – for people to come to Jesus and be saved by grace through faith – having a conversion of heart that brings forth the works (fruits) of holiness in their lives. (Hebrews 12:14)
Consider adding to your prayers these specific words. Something along the lines of:
“Dear Lord, please bring your light and truth to the heart and mind of {Name} so they will experience a true conversion and come to the fullness of your salvation”
In these times, Jesus is calling us to pray. The Holy Spirit is our advocate and help – He actually intercedes through us (Romans 8:26). No matter what else is going on in the world, in our lives, in our families. We can always turn to prayer – for the Father knows what we need even before we ask. And yet, He wants to hear from His children. He wants YOU to be part of the solution, to be a co-worker in the order of grace.
Matthew 21:21-22 “Jesus answered them, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done. Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.”
