We started this day (Tuesday, October 11th) taking one more walk around the outside of the Burgos cathedral. It wasn’t necessarily on purpose We were trying to find our way back to the Camino and the map just took us all the way around the cathedral before we found that we could have just simply turned right and walked a couple blocks to pick up the same path! I guess the Lord knew that we just needed one last look!

A good portion of the walk today was just walking through the rest of Burgos out towards the countryside. As we were nearing the edge of the city we found a small community with some townhomes and a local parish Church. Although the church was not open for us to go fully inside, the door was open, and we could look through the bars to be able to see the interior and take a moment to adore Christ in the Blessed Sacrament in Tabernacle.

We didn’t take too many more pictures this day because most of it was long stretches of roadway or paths through a field.
We now begin to enter the meseta. This is a generally flat area of the Camino with long stretches of path with no shade. But they are also a welcome change from the many mountain passes we have encountered.

Our final encounter as we left the city was passing a statue of the apostle Saint James. The plaque on the bottom of the statue says;
“When The Journey comes to an end, the evening star will rise and the harmonies of twilight will open before the portico of the King“
A very good reminder that this Camino is just one part of a larger Camino of our life. We are all pilgrims on a journey that will one day end in this world and begin in the eternal Kingdom. May we all be ready for that day.
Buen Camino 🙏❤️
