Today started as a rainy cold walk but ended with great warmth as we met a couple of pilgrims and spent time with them on our journey today.
We left Puenta La Reina after warming up with some cafe con leche, checking in on our daughters and continuing to pray for Florida in the aftermath of hurricane Ian. We stopped at the first church we found open, and had a moment of adoration and prayer before Jesus’ presence in the Tabernacle. There was also a beautiful statue of Jesus with a basket in front of the statue where people would put their prayer intentions.

We were giving praise and thanks to God for his Holy Angels today who guide us and protect us throughout our lives. How often we neglect thinking these wonderful creatures of God who have been with us our entire lives and watch over us and guide us towards our heavenly destination.
We met a man from the Czech Republic today named Dominik.

Dominik has already walked over 500 km starting his journey from Austria and crossing the alps. He shared with me his life story growing up as a child under communism. As we walked together for about 3 or 4 hours I listened to his story, his sorrows over the loss of his brother, and his hope for his future. He walked with us all the way to the end of our day where we said our goodbyes and became connections on Instagram so we can continue following each other’s journey. The conversation and the friendship helped me to go about 5 miles more than I thought I could go today. 😊

As Lisa and I and Dominik were taking a break in a local cafe, we met this man named Phille. He is biking across France, Spain, and into Portugal. His destination is Fatima. He shared with us how he is raising money for a charity to support a triathlete who was injured and is now paralyzed. He himself has an injury on his foot that after multiple surgeries the doctors are still recommending amputation. But he also shared with us how his faith has been returning to him on this journey and along the way God has been showing his love to him through others.
I told him we would add him to our prayer list and dedicate a day to not only his mission but to his healing and the increase of his faith in Christ. Before we parted ways he let me pray for him and give him a blessing.

As we were nearing the end of our day looking across the fields of wheat that have been harvested, we noticed among the stalks one lone sunflower. We have seen fields of sunflowers which are now faded and brown. Amidst all of the rain, cloudiness, and cold this Little Flower was a ray of hope and sunshine in our day.
The Father continues to show us how he provides for us each day. Food to eat, shelter for the night, and new friendships along the path.
As we entered Estella, we were greeted by this towering church at the center. Reminding us that God has given us all we need for life and salvation in Christ, in His church, in His sacraments.

Buen Camino ❤️🙏
