Our journey today began with navigating the various Metro trains to get to the central train station. I patted myself in the back a little too soon in the day because once we got to the central train station it was chaotic!
We had 10 minutes to find our train and buy a ticket and no idea where to go. If we missed this one we would have to wait another 3 hours which would take away time in Lisieux.

A prayer to the Holy Spirit and a plea to my guardian Angel to help and we finally found the right section and terminal for the tickets. It was a good reminder to me to walk in peace and trust God ..even when (especially when) I can’t control the outcome.

The challenges continued as our train was 30 minutes late and we missed the connecting train. But this gave us the opportunity to ride a bus through part of France and connect back to the train to Lisieux.

This side trip was totally worth it to be able to visit the burial place of St Therese of Lisieux at the convent where she and her sisters are buried. We then walked over to the basilica which has to be one of the most beautiful basilica churches we have visited!

The extra bonus was deciding to continue walking up the stairs to the rear of the basilica. There is a large stations of the Cross with a beautiful outdoor altar area. It is here that we found the final resting place for the parents of St Therese of Lisieux.

A great reminder today the small things we do in love can help lead us to a life of holiness and eventually to be saints in heaven. St Therese of Lisieux shows us the “little way” of doing small things with great love. Her parents show us what a life of self gift leads to.
St Teresa of Lisieux…pray for us.
Now we are ready for bed and tomorrow back to the trains for our journey to St Jean Pied de Port and the beginning of our 500 miles. True, the Camino has already begun in our hearts as God has used this time to prepare us for the pilgrimage.
Buen Camino friends…
